1 · Centration error compounds through the chain. A relay train is a series of Φ1.8 × 23.3 / 40 mm rods. A few arc-minutes of centration error on one rod shifts the image at the far end of the train. The failure shows at final assembly — on your bench, not at the lens supplier's inspection.
How HSD avoids it: centration is verified on a per-batch sampling plan per ISO 10110-6, with measured values on the batch COA.
2 · Diameter and length have to land together. Relay rods seat into tight bores: diameter −0.02/−0.04 mm and length per drawing have to arrive in the same batch. If one drifts, the rod no longer seats and rework starts.
How HSD avoids it: rods are cut and finished from the same drawing package, so diameter, length and centration stay consistent across the set.
3 · The “manufacturer” may be a trader. If your supplier forwards drawings to several shops, nobody can explain a yield problem when it appears — the only fix is paying for a second qualification.
How HSD avoids it: we are the factory — a 30-person precision optical workshop in Nanjing. Your drawing is reviewed by our own engineers.
4 · A bad batch has to be traceable. A COA that only says “within spec” hides drift. Parts pass incoming inspection, the image fails in the assembled scope, and nobody can say which batch did it.
How HSD avoids it: every batch COA carries measured values — dimensions, centration, surface quality, test method.
That is why we treat a relay set as one system: same diameter tolerance, same centration method, same COA format. Assembly doesn't depend on anyone's feel.
